Hemmendy Nelson is a Swedish-American artist born and raised in Europe. She has a BFA in Theatre Arts from Illinois Wesleyan University and pursued an acting career in Chicago and New York. She has written and illustrated two children’s books:  Stephan: The Story of Your Adoption, and Chloe and May, about two sisters. She is currently working on a graphic memoir that grapples with being the daughter of a spy and explores a life of secrets and the pursuit of perfection. She lives in New York City with her husband and dog. Also, her sister thinks she’s funny.
